Is one of those copper insert ones they advertise on TV and print media worth it?
I have lower back pain and have had two rounds of PT where they taught me exercises I do at home.
But I am at my desktop computer a lot (I try to limit it but I am a writer so it's not that easy) a long time each day and get pain as a result. I'm thinking of getting one of those back braces with copper inserts. Anybody got one of those?
How about just using back braces for arthritic back pain in general?

(11,284 posts)too much time sitting hunched, instead of supporting her back. Things that work for her: massaging frankensence onto skin, heat pad, and ice packs. I've used a brace without copper when I've had a herniated disc. It works for me for walking around, but I couldn't sit on a regular chair for long. Sorry you are suffering.

From Mayo Clinic:
Buyer beware
Because back pain is common, many products promise prevention or relief. But there's no good evidence that special shoes, shoe inserts, back supports or specially designed furniture can help.
In addition, there doesn't appear to be one type of mattress that's best for people with back pain. It's probably a matter of what feels most comfortable to each person.
So save your money, continue your PT exercises and I'm sure you know the rest.

(5,115 posts)but when my arthritic back hurts while I'm sitting at the computer for a long time, I find squeezing my butt cheeks--really tighten them up--for a few seconds really helps. It makes me sit up a little straighter, I guess. Anyway, there's no copper involved, and it's free gratis, might be worth just what you paid for it.
