Related: About this forumMe at 80
Ten years ago, I posted post-workout photos of myself at 70. Ten years later, here I am at 80. The deterioration isn't quite as bad as I feared. What will 90 show? I hope I'll find out!

Well, unless you're already dead. Then it's too late. So far as we know.

(20,444 posts)When I compare the two sets of pictures, though, I can see the changes. But that's how it goes.

your dramatic results show that is worth it.

(10,148 posts)I'm 73 and feel great except for back and hip issues. I can tell the difference in the last couple of years.
You look strong - how is your stamina?
I hope I make it to 80 and age as well as you.....I do have my hair....☮

(20,444 posts)Although I can't claim any credit for the bald part. It just kinda happened.

(6,386 posts)It is much more beneficial than any other exercise when you are over 60, and the only thing which can actually reverse the aging process in your body.

(4,447 posts)Im 73, female. I lift weights and do some machines at the Senior Center.
I can keep up with most folks decades younger.
I need to figure out how to post videos.
But the dancing is the best thing for me, mostly because I stick with it. It was super hard for a while but I stuck with it and have greatly improved from 13 years ago, when I joined Senior Center.
I just started a Hip Hop class; the young instructor apologized to me, saying theres some rough language and she would find less offensive songs if I came back. I told her, I really dont give a fuck. Now shes my adopted granddaughter. 😂
The only drawback is I cant really be friends with (at a deeper, shared values way) most of them because they are Republicans. Im super friendly with them and thats enough.

(418 posts)I just had half a ton of river rocks delivered so I can make a dry stream bed in my boggy woods. The water table has risen, and the land doesn't drain as it used to. I hope weightlifting does reverse the body's aging process. I'm going to be doing a lot of it. By the way, I'm an eighty-one-year-old woman.

(92 posts)I'm 62 and have worked out off and on since I was 48. My goal was to do Women's Physique before I hit 60, but along came covid and dashed that dream. I got my 87yo dad started on weight lifting recently, he had done cross country skiing, running and bicycling, but never weights; he told me he had been missing out.
Keep up the training, I feel you won't regret a bit of it.

(6,484 posts)A nice old man approached us and proudly announced he'll be 81 next week. He was bent over, used a cane and had trouble maneuvering. We smiled and congratulated him. He patted me on the back and slowly moved on, convinced he was dealing with young folks. Ha! Hubby 83 and me already 81!. Guess it pays to live right!
