I'm thinking I am gonna "cash in my chips" and get outta dodge within 2 years

I've never traveled, so maybe the first step is selling the house and just cruising around the US in a sprinter-van or something...but the ideal goal is to find about an acre of land, and build a eco-friendly kit house...go fully solar and have my own well...dont need propane, use firewood if needed.

So that's the ideal.

Im in the CA Sierras and I love it here, most of the year (winter is not my fave thing, but I could find somewhwre with a little less snow than 6000') But the overtourism is ruining my town, I havent been able to even *get* to the Lake the past 2 summers with the overcrowding.

I just wanna find myself a spot, preferably near a river or lake (gotta be able to stick my feet in the water for sanity ) and let the forest take me...I will become the fabled witch of the hillside and offer sage wisdom and herbal spells to the villagers I allow to visit...

Anyway, just waxing poetic and looking at land for sale websites tonight.

Dreaming of a time when I can go deeper away from the things of man.

I've heard Colorado is nice

I was there about a month. What a cool place to live at the time. But I bet it sucks now.

they usually live on land with a old rusty trailer and fly their flags everywhere (no doubt they have guns too) I wouldnt wanna buy land next to them thats for sure!

There's a whole "community" of them near the river on hwy 49 toward placerville... creepy AF

12. Agree. Those back roads are dangerous, and suspect a lot support insurrectionists.

But, I think that’s pretty much the case in a lot of very rural areas.

it's either wildfires, or ice storms, or hurricaines, etc...

I feel like I wanna stick to the west coast but that's all supposed to crumble into the ocean with the next earthquake... yikes....

I love my little slice of Tahoe, but the neighborhood has changed with sales and remodels and vacation rentals...
