Audrey 'Feed Me' Furball has changed so much. A year ago, she seemed tiny, but was just starving. Nevertheless, her kittens were all pretty well fed, so she was really bankrupting her reserves for them. Her coat was dull, sticky, and matted; you could tell she was a longhair, but not what she would eventually become.
She is now distinctly zaftig and her coat is a wonder. It requires regular brushing, but she loves it and rolls around to present the next area she wants done, purring so loudly that DH can hear her from across the bed. (And he wears hearing aids...sometimes.)
I walked into the kitchen the other night and found her and Fast Eddie preparing for the OK corral. She'd put herself in possession of the cat place on the island, (It's a folded dishtowel at the far end from where I work and all cats know that they stay put on there and well out of my meal prep, or they get summarily evicted from the whole island. Don't judge me.) Eddie considers this his alone.
He was doing his best black jaguar impression at the other end. Audrey sat up on the towel, fur cascading so you couldn't see any limbs, paws, or much of anything else. Just a huge cone of fur with ears and slitted yellow eyes. She looked like a large black owl.
They both got the boost and blamed me. Stormed off to separate corners and separate rooms. Oh, well. Tough. But I really have to get a picture, as she's taken to sitting that way often and it's something to see.
