Concrete patch in foundation

Hi. I'm having some outdoor plumbing moved that will leave about a one inch oval hole in the house foundation with direct access to the crawl space.

I need to fill the hole to keep out rodents and paint to match existing color (surrounding concrete is freshly painted).

I was thinking of getting a small 1 qt tub of pre-mix cement from the home center but don't know if it should be "regular" or hydraulic. Leaks from rain are not really issue -- the hole is several inches above grade and there's about zero chance of flooding in arid California.

Any helpful hints?

Hydraulic cement is meant to prevent water moving up through a slab .On a vertical surface regular will do just fine and match the surface texture

5. Stainless steel wool scrubber will work fine

If you want more apply a masonry caulk like LOCTITE PL Poly Concrete and Masonry Sealant to the wool.

Yeah, I'd have to finish the surface with the masonry caulk and texturize to match the surrounding area.

9. I would use the hydraulic cement.

It may not match but it won’t shrink. If you are painting it the color match won’t matter anyway.
