(25,271 posts)Tomorrow we set sail down the Hudson to NY harbor. Then well head into LI Sound for two weeks of cruising around various harbors and anchorages. Well also attend my 50th HS reunion. Fun!
For our night-before meal, well start with shots of tequila to toast Aeolus and Poseidon in hopes of favorable winds and seas. Then small shrimp cocktails followed by pan-fried steaks, (we cant grill in the marina as its a fire hazard). Steamed asparagus and homemade French fries to round out the meal. Chocolate chip cookies for dessert.
Wish us fair winds and following seas!

(1,148 posts)Modeled after Emily's Lebanese in Nordeast Minneapolis (home of the best tabouli in the state).
I used a quart jar of home-canned boneless chicken; 1 large breast and 2 large thighs. Used the canning jar broth for liquid, some extra onion (rather than hold some back/throw some out), and am saving the leftover rice to stuff cabbage rolls. Mimicked Emily's seasoning with a little cinnamon and cumin.
It was delicious. With salad.
