What's for Dinner, Sat., April 11, 2026

Appetizer is smoked fish on crackers. Mayo, of course,

Spicy Turkey Meatloaf.

I'm in the process of making it now, which pains me greatly because it's a beautiful sunny day and I want to be planting. (should have ordered out, grrrr)

Ruffly green lettuce with sliced green apple, cranberries, and pepitas, toasted.

Kombucha: blueberry basil.

Dessert: cherry mascarpone strudel. Decaf coffee.

I hope you have plenty of time for your beloved gardening activities after dinner.

I just finished a slice of my holiday turkey breast roast, mac n cheese, and a can of corn.

Enjoy!

Busy day getting ready for a 12 day trip to FL to visit relatives and do some diving and snorkeling in the Keys. Ordered out from our favorite pizzeria that makes a killer vegan pie with cashew milk cheese, mushrooms, onions and eggplant with a sesame crust. Probably won’t be posting again until we return from our trip
Yeah, I know it’s FL, but still a lot of good folks live here. Cheers!🥂

Son urged me out to get groceries, which is always an ordeal because we have to hit TJ’s and then Publix. Pulling into the car park at the latter, his car started making a weird noise and by the time we pulled into a spot, there was a flood coming out from under the car—coolant? Got our stuff, including a couple gallons of distilled water, and then it took him 45 minutes with all the wrong tools to diagnose a leaky hose (which burst outright once he tested it…) and had to McGuyver things to cut off the torn end and hope that it reached the clamp so we could limp home and he can deal with it tomorrow in the light of day.

We ended up sharing a Snickers bar and an Arizona Rx once the crisis was temporarily solved and I didn’t have any strength left to even think about a proper meal once we drug in a ton of groceries and stowed everything away.

Theoretically, we will eat better tomorrow. At least we have more in the larder to work with.

Here’s hoping tomorrow will be *much* less exciting!

… so I’m counting on it!

I also have some bananas going fast, so it’ll be banana bread day, which I’m looking forward to because it’s been a while.
