Lost bookmarks when updated Firefox

I continuously see notes to update the new version of Firefox so finally decided to download which would open when I start my computer.

Not only all the bookmarks are gone, and history, I cannot rebuild it.

I have an option of a new bookmark but when I try to fill in the name and URL, the only option is to cancel. The Save is fade.

I don't mind rebuilding it but I cannot.

Firefox support does not help.

1. Not an Apple user but

I'd look to see if there is a backup in Firefox itself, I would have used Export to file under Manage Bookmarks. If those failed I would see if my OS has a method to revert to an earlier state of operation, one of the backups made periodically. But these days i'd be in no rush, I'd query searches for advice along the way and to develop a plan.

2. Check in the profile folder

Firefox bookmarks are stored in a single database file called places.sqlite located within your user's profile folder. You can find your profile folder by going to the Firefox menu, selecting Help, then More Troubleshooting Information, and clicking Open Folder next to the Profile Directory.

3. Thanks. Cannot find the profile, I may need Apple support

but I don’t think that it is the profile. I can log into all my bookmarks, including DU.

It is just bizarre the options and I cannot rebuild it.

4. Curiouser and curiouser. Did not open the computer yesterday and today.... everything is OK
