WhatsApp install is plaguing me

I joined a group I have to use WhatsApp. It won't work on Linux so put it on my WIN11 PC. But it still needs phone install to link. It won't scan setup. Used AI on it for 3 hours. Had to uninstall it and start over. I should embrace the new technology but this is ridiculous.

I know there is info that says it can work on a non-phone but I didn't have any luck. works fine on the phone though.

They told me it won't 'work on Linux. It does, in the browser. You can't set it up without importing at least one contact, and they want access to your whole phone. It never was able to scan the QR setup code. It is an epic fail. Nothing works.
