How do I adjust the sound on my PC? I see a little icon of a speaker in the lower right edge of my screen but

I'm afraid something bad might happen if I click on it. Is it the right place to increase the sound level?

It could be due to other processes running on your computer; for example. You might have a lot of browser windows and tabs open. You might click on it and have a delay to the click and drag responsiveness. The slider highlight will change as you roll over it with the cursor.
