South Madison needs more housing options, City Council candidates say
In 2023, Isadore Knox beat Noah Lieberman after his name was pulled from a bag as a tiebreaker to represent District 14 on Madisons City Council. Then last year, Lieberman unsuccessfully challenged Knox again for the south side seat, losing with 48% of the vote.
Now in Liebermans third bid this spring, the stay-at-home dad faces Kate Blood, a life coach and grief support practitioner with experience working in the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority.
Both candidates agree transit access, homeownership, housing affordability and the desire to protect immigrant neighbors are big issues on the citys south side. Other needs in District 14 include access to child care, green space and the development of community spaces.
The Cap Times spoke with Lieberman and Blood ahead of the April 7 election. Their responses have been edited for brevity and clarity.
