The mass media is taking notice of the pivotal 2026 elections for Washington State Supreme Court, to voters' benefit

Judicial elections are often among the most obscure contests on the ballots we vote each year, receiving only a fraction of the attention devoted to races for governor, Congress, or the Legislature despite the judiciary’s power to say what the law is… a power that profoundly affects public policy and our constitutional rights.

Many voters head into election season knowing little or nothing about the candidates seeking seats on the bench, in large part because state and local judicial races are “nonpartisan” and have historically struggled to attract sustained media coverage.

But 2026 is shaping up to be very different.

Washington’s pivotal 2026 Supreme Court elections, with a majority of the court on the ballot, are increasingly drawing the attention of newspapers, broadcasters, political observers, and civic organizations across the state, which is extremely encouraging.
