Here's where wages are rising the fastest in the Puget Sound region
The job market has been softening for most of the year, but many local counties are still posting solid wage growth in 2025, and King County is setting the page.
Wages in King County increased by 7.5% in the first quarter, ranking ninth-highest in the U.S., according to recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The average weekly wage in King County was $2,675.
Despite a softening job market, a host of high-profile layoffs and recent sluggish hiring numbers, BLS data shows 340 of the 372 counties it tracked saw a year-over-year increase in their weekly wages. Across all counties measured, the average weekly wage increased 4.1%.
In the Puget Sound area, wage growth was weaker outside of King County. Pierce County wages increased 3.3% year over year to an average of $1,394 a week, and pay in Kitsap County was up 2.7% over the same period to $1,425 per week. Wage growth was weakest in Snohomish County, where it was up 2% to $1,643 a week.
