Everett Housing Authority taps veteran leader to lead agency
Sarah Smith, the new executive director of the Everett Housing Authority, is known in the region's public housing circles, having formerly worked for authorities in Bremerton and Seattle.
The Everett Housing Authority on Aug. 29 announced Smith at the new leader of the agency, which has seen high turnover at the top and dissatisfaction in the ranks. She will assume leadership of the 125-employee agency on Nov. 1 and be paid $290,000 a year.
Smith has 12-plus years of leadership experience in the housing authority sector. Smith most recently worked in Indiana as chief operating officer/deputy executive director at the Fort Wayne Housing Authority, where an EHA press release says she developed and implemented policies that supported the agencys culture and long-term vision. She also managed what the release says were large-scale federal grant programs.
Before Fort Wayne, she spent six years at Seattle Housing Authority, where she advanced through multiple leadership roles from 2013-19.
