Climate Pledge switching to reusable cups. Don't steal them.

Climate Pledge Arena on Monday is switching from recyclable aluminum cups to reusable plastic cups.

That might sound like a drop in the bucket, but Brianna Treat hopes it is more than that.

Treat, the director of sustainability at Climate Pledge, said arena leadership has taken lessons away from other arenas that have gone to reusable cups, for example, Moda Center in Portland, which has seen an 80% return rate.

"I'm sure that a few will slip through the cracks, and we'll really be able to understand what that loss looks like after a full month's worth of reporting. We've also tried to do our best with fan education," Treat said. "People here in Seattle, they understand the ethos of what we're trying to do."
