Most far-right school board candidates clear GOP primary hurdle in York County
The PA Economic Growth PAC, a far-right political action committee that promotes book bans and anti-LGBTQ+ policies, had another successful year, as most of its preferred candidates earned spots on the November ballot.
Based on unofficial election results, only a single endorsed candidate West Shore's Sandra Gonzalez fell short. The status of the PAC's three write-in candidates won't be clear until the results are finalized. Christopher Kambic, the West Shore board member who was erroneously endorsed by the PAC, ran unopposed.
During 2023's school board races, the PAC that's backed by several influential York County Republicans including state lawmakers Mike Jones and Dawn Keefer elected 48 of the 51 candidates it endorsed. That resulted in far-right majorities across several districts.
The PAC's activities have faced significant scrutiny in West Shore and across York County after a series of school board actions such as Central York's book bans and South Western's bathroom windows covered by The York Dispatch drew national media coverage.
