Is there a Democrat who could challenge Mary Fallin in 2014?

No one has come forward, so far...who do you think could run against Fallin and beat her? She's already got almost $1 million, and apparently the Koch Brothers have donated.

I sure wish Jari Askins had won. Any ideas who could be a true challenger on the Dem side?

The last time we had a Democratic Governor was Brad Henry, 2002-2011--he was term limited from running again. Prior to that, David Walters 1991-1995, George Nigh 1979-1987, David Boren 1975-1979, and David Hall 1971-1975.

For most of Oklahoma's history, Democrats have been in control. Just over the last couple of decades have the Republicans taken over. Most registered voters in Oklahoma are Democrats, last I heard.

To answer your first question, yes it does matter. The same phenomenon that's likely to turn Texas blue in coming years is also happening in Oklahoma--we are getting an influx of people who typically vote for Democrats, and the aging Republican population is dying off.
