Pitt County voters hit the polls for municipal elections

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - The first day of early voting for municipal elections brought voters from across Pitt County to the polls today, with many emphasizing the critical impact of local government decisions on daily life.

Voters from Greenville, Farmville, and Ayden were at the main early voting site at the Agricultural Center at 403 Government Circle. It opened from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“The local is more important because it affects you now,” said Greenville voter Robert Evans. “The federal affects you down the road a piece, but your government, you’re interfacing with them constantly.”

Some voters faced obstacles reaching the main voting site. John Tipton, a Winterville voter, said it was difficult to get to the Agricultural Center because of having to navigate through downtown Greenville.
