NYC-CC12: Council Member Kevin Riley (D) running for re-election in District 12
Kevin Riley wants to keep his role as District 12's council member. He has held the role for the past four years after winning in a special election in late 2020. That followed former Council Member Andy King's dismissal from council due to ethics and harassment allegations.
Riley told News 12 he's proud of the capital investments made for the community during his administration. He spoke about expanding technology programming for youth and seniors, as well as creating intergenerational connections at places like the YMCA.
When asked what community issues Riley will address if reelected, he said, "Some of the issues that we're seeing here in the 12th District is our public safety. Recently, we have an uptick in crime when it comes to our young people."
Riley is calling for more police and programming that can help prevent crime.
