Two Ashland alderman seats to be elected by write-in

ASHLAND — No candidates are running for First Ward or Second Ward alderman in Ashland for Boone County's April 7 municipal election.

This means a write-in candidate will win both seats. One alderman for each ward will be elected for a two-year term by write in. Two candidates, Ezra Lenon and Rick Lewis, are running for Ashland Third Ward alderman.

But, determining a clear winner from write-ins isn't as easy as with pre-filed candidates.

Spelling variations, writing outside boxes and other errors make write-ins more difficult to verify than a standard ballot where voters select candidates by filling in a bubble.
