A conservative group aiming to restrict transgender students rights will be collecting signatures at polling places on Election Day. Their petition was finalized by the Maine Department of the Secretary of States on Monday and, if it gains enough support, could be on the ballot next year.
We want to make Maine girls sports female again, said campaign spokesperson Heidi Sampson, a former state representative who now leads the Maine Education Initiative, a project of the conservative Maine Policy Institute. Well be the first state to be able to have voters reclaim common sense to protect girls sports so we can make our girls winners again.
This is the latest effort to change Maine law, which has protections in place for trans students to participate on sports teams and use bathrooms and locker rooms of their choice, after failed attempts at the state and federal level.
Maine faced several federal investigations this year by the Trump administration, which accused the state of violating anti-discrimination law for allowing trans girls to play on girls teams. The state is also facing an ongoing lawsuit from the U.S. Department of Justice for alleged violations of Title IX.

Get ready for 2026. Failing to plan is planning to fail. And failing is NOT an option with this loon in office.
I've never wished failing health on anyone until trump.
