Jennifer DeFrances (R) elected to Ascension Parish Council's District 11 seat
Jennifer DeFrances won the election for the District 11 seat on the Ascension Parish Council, which was previously held by Michael Mason.
DeFrances totaled 277 (82 percent) votes, while Corey Perrillioux had 59 (18 percent) in the Saturday, Oct. 11 election, according to unofficial results from the Louisiana Secretary of State.
The unofficial turnout was 4 percent.
Last year in late December, Mason announced his plans to resign Jan. 17 as he took a new job at Howard University in Washington, D.C.
