District 8 seat on Caddo Parish School Board declared vacant, prompting special election
The Distrct 8 seat on the Caddo Parish School Board has been declared vacant and a special election was be held to fill the vacancy.
The board convened a special meeting on Friday and voted to approve a proclamation declaring the District 8 Caddo Parish School board seat vacant due to Christine Tharpe's resignation, while also calling for a special to fill the vacancy.
Tharpe announced her resignation at the August regular meeting. Tharpe was elected to the board in November 2020.
The board established procedures to fill the District 8 vacancy temporarily. The procedures will be advertised in the board's official journal and interviews will be held during the Tuesday, September 2 meeting.
