Teacher fired for 1 Nazi down comment

Teacher fired for social media comments comparing fascist Kirk to a nazi

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/iowa-school-board-votes-on-firing-teacher-who-called-charlie-kirk-a-nazi/ar-AA1MLWuW?ocid=BingNewsVerp

The Oskaloosa school board has voted to fire teacher Matthew Kargol for allegedly comparing conservative activist Charlie Kirk to a Nazi on social media after Kirk was fatally shot during a Utah event.

The board publicly voted unanimously to end Kargol's employment in a special meeting Wednesday, Sept. 17, approving Superintendent Mike Fisher's recommendation.

White on White crime is starting to infringe on free speech.

What are the Republicans doing to quell violence their white male supporters are committing.

1. Good - there's no free speech implication there

Employees are representatives of the district at all times and must model appropriate character, both on and off the worksite. This applies to material posted with personal devices and on personal websites and/or social media accounts. Posted messages or pictures which diminish the professionalism or discredit the capacity to maintain respect of students and parents may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination if the content posted is found to be disruptive to the educational environment and adversely impacts the employee’s ability to effectively serve as a role model or perform his/her job duties for the district.

3. Can an American have both a job and an opinion?

I thought the following was an interesting take, from the special counsel for campus advocacy at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, a nonprofit organization that defends Americans' rights to free speech and thought regardless of ideology:

But in the case of public employees, including those at public universities, he said it becomes more complicated because the government is generally limited to disciplining people whose comments are made in connection with their official duties.

"The question has become whether we are going to be the kind of country where you can have both a job and an opinion," he said.

Considering the rightwing nut bars are apparently building a database in an effort to get critics of the fascists fired from their jobs. Alarming.

Plus, late night commentators are losing their jobs over simple comments about the white on white male violence. Where does this shit stop?

Reminds me of Vaclav Havel's book "The power of the powerless." Havel described how workers under soviet influence must tow the party line or they get iced out of work. Harassed by the secret police.

And also reminds me of the Chernobyl disaster. The nuclear boss bullied a worker to do something hazardous, (Do what I say, or you won't have a job anymore anywhere.) Plant blew up, town shut down, lots of people died horrific deaths radiation, etc.

If America keeps this up, we'll be like workers in Chernobyl. The best and brightest voice any opinion about our fascist overloads, NO WORK FOR YOU. Then a nuclear power plant blows up. And people die. Too late.

Some say the disaster was the spark that started the break up of the Soviet Union. People stood up, stayed standing until the dictators toppled and armies lowered their weapons. It's my opinion DJT is a dictator and ICE is his own private army.

5. If you frequented a place of business and the staff posted a bunch of pro Trump statements on their social media

Would you continue to give them your business, as they are entitled to have an opinion, or would you "fire them' and go somewhere else? What if you owned the place and found out you were losing a lot of customers due to the posts of your employees? Let them continue posting like that?

4. And he is now suing the school, and the superintendent

for wrongful termination, per KCCI TV. He points out that it was his personal account, and they are restricting his right to freedom of speech.
They also report that there are other school districts dealing with the same thing, and the Board of Regents is asking the state universities to monitor the accounts of their employees.

What happened to the First Amendment, and Free Speech, that the rwnjs love to talk about?

It is his personal account - which (as a condition of employment) he agreed to operate in a way that did not disrupt the learning environment.
