I read recently that most historians believe that the Reichstag fire — long used as the ur-example of a false flag justifying Nazi totalitarianism — was probably just set by a dude acting alone and not at the behest of Nazis. That it was a violent act that served as useful idiocy.

The suspect is 30-year old Elias Rodriguez of Chicago.

The Mayor of Washington DC has confirmed that this is being investigated as an act of terrorism.

This is not comparable to the Reichstag fire. What it is comparable to is Luigi Mangione who murdered JohnSJ Yesterday #1

Brian Thompson.

Both Luigi and Rodriguez are sick SOBs with some deranged illusion of grandeur or martyr complex.

Their actions actually have the opposite effect of what they intended.

In other words they are out of their f**king gourd.

Maybe that is what the OP is trying say.

Hell, the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary was the catalyst that precipitated WWI.

What happened on January 6th demonstrated just how close we came to losing our Democracy, and the stupidity of the American public putting this insurrectionist back into the WH, makes that a real possibility now.
