tell me about pueblo

we currently live in texas but are seriously thinking about leaving for friendlier locations. we are considering colorado and pueblo seems like a possiblility based on affordability.
im a city boy. ive live in 3 big cities (or their suburbs) so i have to live in an urban area. preferably with good access to ethnic restaurants etc...
we would want a 3 br 2 bath house with NO HOA. in a decent area.

denver seem to pricey for us. colorado springs is possible and we;ve been there before.
easy drive to the colorado ren faire is a huge plus..

about 35 miles away. Some parts are lovely, some not so much. You would have to check on latest crime stats. The Sangre de Christo Art Museum is wonderful. Many good restaurants. .and the Chile Festival in Sept is wonderful. The Riverwalk downtown is fun (the rubber ducky flotilla durung the Chile Festival is a hoot). It can be extremely hot in summer, and brrrrrr in winter. A lot of farming in the surrounding areas.

I have friends who live there, and they like it very much.

My son is a college athlete and has had many outdoor events at CSU Pueblo that I’ve attended. The wind never, and I mean never, stops blowing there.

A little south of CO Springs is a town called Fountain. Maybe look there or perhaps look north of Denver in the Greeley or Windsor areas.

3. Northern Front Range is pricey. Greeley less so, but hyperconservative and conservatives decimated

public health during COVID-19 to some considerable detriment—likewise some intense MAGA social intolerance. Windsor is up-and-coming and nice, but prices are increasing given its proximity to Fort Collins. And don't forget that is where Lauren Boebert chose to move after her embarrassment and divorce. Sorry Folks but all those Northern Front Range areas east of Fort Collins, Boulder, Denver are pretty much her new District 4.

So, there are positives, but there are definitely negatives to some of these areas.

who live there like it very much, despite its proximity to Ft. Carson, and our own version of Flint and Love Canal.

5. Pueblo dweller for 25 years

Pueblo has good housing in all areas except the east side (east of I-25). Prices vary but are certainly affordable, taxes moderate, residents are 50% Hispanic and friendly. Many great Mexican food eateries, and several Italian. My favorite Italian is a take-out only named Collette's, 1614 West Northern Avenue on the south end. Good prices and great food.

We used to live in Dallas, and don't miss the heat and humidity at all. Much sunshine here and we are building a solar add-on to our place to take advantage of it. Winters are generally milder than a bit north.

Mountain recreation except east, but some fair fishing in flatlands. I travel toward La Junta for fresh veggies (many farms with roadside vendors). Rocky Ford canteloupes OMG!

We receive a veterans/old age 50% property tax break after dwelling in the same home 10 years.

Here to stay!
