Former Arroyo Grande mayoral candidate (R) pleads not guilty to election fraud charges
A formal Arroyo Grande mayoral candidate has pleaded not guilty to election fraud charges.
The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office filed the charges last month against Gaea Powell, who ran for Arroyo Grande mayor in the 2022 and 2024 elections.
Powell entered the not guilty pleas in a San Luis Obispo courtroom on Tuesday.
She is charged with voter registration fraud, filing a false declaration of candidacy, fraudulent voting, failure to file campaign finance reports, and perjury by declaration.
