Sheriff Eric Higgins (D) to seek re-election in Pulaski County

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Pulaski County Sheriff Eric Higgins announced Monday that he will seek re-election and continue his leadership in local law enforcement.

According to a spokesperson, Higgins has previously introduced reforms, innovative programs and received national recognition for public safety initiatives.

Under his leadership, the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office implemented “no chokehold” and “duty to intervene” policies, expanded crisis intervention training, and required body cameras for patrol and detention, officials said.

Higgins also strengthened community engagement through programs such as “Supper with the Sheriff,” the CSI Re-Entry Program and partnerships providing food and resources to families, officials said.

Anyone remember ol' Tommy? In the '80s, he was like the Sheriff Arpaio of Arkansas. He ended up running for Congress as a Democrat, then decided he was a boll weevil and switched parties. He was pretty much a loose cannon in Congress and lost the next election.
