(97,423 posts)I can't see it tonight due to a very thick plume of smoke obscuring everything.

(3,995 posts)I think you still have a few more chances to find it.

(97,423 posts)I saw it Sunday and last night. It's huge, don't recall ever seeing one that long/tall. I saw it through smoke, it was faint but visible if you're in a dark place.
The smoke should clear by the end of the week as we have some rain and snow passing through starting tomorrow and back to nice weather by the middle of the weekend. I'll probably get a better look at it then.

Teacher of the Year
(200 posts)I took my friend there camping once, we hiked out and ended up sleeping under a giant round rock. We are almost asleep and we heard a coyote howl close by and my friend squeaked out "The giant egg will keep us safe."
Beautiful place. I was teaching in Cathedral City and would often find myself at Joshua Tree on a Friday evening or a weekend,, shaking off a hard week.
Love the picture!

Joshua Tree is a national treasure. I love it there, and get out there as often as I can. It's one of my favorite locations for astrophotography. It's about a two hour drive for me.
