"Scuse me while I kiss this guy". Actual lyric refers to "the sky". Jimi was in on the joke early-on at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival and took it to another level. When that line in the song came up, he used the "alternative" lyric while motioning in the direction of bassist Noel Redding, who he'd introduced as being Bob Dylan's grandmother. And to top it off, he burned and smashed his guitar, upstanding The Who, which was no small accomplishment.

Of course, it's the right time to roll to me. But I think my mishearing was better.

not “And Elaine is in my ear and in my eyes”. Swear to God I’ve always heard “and Elaine”.

Proclaimed:

In the meadow we can build a snowman
And pretend that he is parsley brown…

When the holidays arrive, I long for that washed up, rust-colored “snowman”…
Like tumbleweeds…

...that on Gary Wright's "Dream Weaver" I probably heard it 30-40 times and thought he was singing "Jane Weaver".
It wasn't until a DJ did a wrap-up of a 4 song set that I finally corrected myself.

It was several years before I realized that the hymn Bringing in the Sheaves wasn’t Bringing in the Sheep. I had no idea what a sheave was.
