(25,668 posts)They were the first "big" band that played and it was right after Abraxus came out. It was a beautiful sunshiney day full of beautiful music, led by Santa's firey guitar and the latin beats. Awesome!

(75,111 posts)It was fun seeing Carlis, Gregg, & Michael together again.
After recruiting me for 4 or 5 months, the other 3 guys finally got me over to play together.
This song was the first song we ever did together. Without discussing it before we started, we broke into 3 part harmonies for the whole song.
After the uptempo jam at the end, and the song ended, nobody said a word.
Finally is asked "Was that as good as I think it was?" It was.
We went on to play over 1,600 gigs together over the next couple decades.

(75,111 posts)He & his band opened for Clapton. The reason I remember the date was some idiots brought leftover firecrackers and set them off.
Clapton stopped the show, mid-song, saying "Knock off the fireworks. You're ruining the show for everyone. If you came to hear music & you see someone light a firecracker get security and get them out of the building."
After Clapton's set, the brought Santana's entire band out for both bands to play together.
The played nearly an hour, including Latin rhythm versions of Crossroads & Eyesight To The Blind.
Just awesome.
