It's all relative
I let my relatives know if I have anything they like, to take it, or else tag it and they can have when I don't need it any more.
My grade school age great niece stayed with me for a few days about a month ago. I mentioned the take/tag idea to her. She is several years younger than my grandkids. Stuff they played with is still here. We were around looking for toys or crafts. I pulled the craft box out and she saw the big box of Crayola crayons and asked if she could have them. I was worried tsa would take them if she had them in carry-on or they'd melt in the luggage, so I told her I'd save them. She said she really wanted them. "They're vintage," she explained.
