I'm really not sleeping well at night

I estimated that my mattress is 12 years old so I'm thinking I should replace it. It's sagging and I wake up with my sleep interrupted and or I wake up hot all the time.

I'm looking at a Sealy Posturepedic that's medium firm with gel foam. It's currently on sale for $800, which I think is reasonable. Of course I would go to the mattress store and do the lie down test before making the purchase.

It looks comfortable. Does anyone have any sleep experience with this type of mattress?

I don't have any experience with that one, and when I last bought one when I was sleeping in a bed instead of a recliner, I had to go and talk to the salesman and try it out personally as you said.

What size is that? Queen?

Here's some links for mattresses for hot sleepers:

Good luck with it...

It's to the point that I don't want to get up in the morning and go to work.

Yes, it's a queen size for a queen! lol I'm teasing.

One of the signs listed of needing a new mattress is waking up hot but I also run hot. My normal temp runs higher than most peoples.

Thank you for the link and for the good luck!

That kind of mattress in a long time. I spent about 8 months sleeping in crappy beds (for my back issues) and finally got something nice a few months ago. I sleep better than I have in years. A decent bed is soooo important.

Currently I have a 12 inch foam mattress that is comfortable and I fall to sleep almost immediately and have a new sleeping position, I used to have only one, and sleep at least an hour longer than I have in years.

I hope you find one that works well for you, I know how it is when you can't sleep or can't get enough good sleep.

Do you happen to know what type of new mattress that you got a few months ago?

There is a foam topper on top of the mattress but I can tell the mattress is sagging.

Thank you so much. I'm a personal care assistant so I would like to be well rested before I go to work.

That I never heard of, in all honesty I didn't make the purchase. But the prices are reasonable.

But It came from here...

Go to bedroom stuff and it seems to be the only mattress they have, it's all foam but it's like heaven.

Until you get your new mattress, here's a couple things you might try.
Can you flip your mattress? I flipped mine a bout 3 years ago and it helped a lot. If you can't flip it, can you change the direction or side from where you're sleeping? Maybe some parts of the mattress aren't as bumpy.

I started putting lavender oil on my pillow. I get a dollar bottle at Dollar General. It has really helped.

Two weeks ago, I started sleep on top of my covers and use a sleeping bag as a cover. I am sleeping better since I started doing that.

I dampen a towel and hang it on a clip hanger on an over the door hanger. The water evaporates overnight and keeps me from getting dry mouth.

I have a box fan blowing on me. I recently got the ceiling fan in my room replaced, and love having the extra air flow.

Did you ever think about getting a piece of memory foam and laying it over your existing mattress? That helped us a few times in the past.

Those are some of the successful things I've tried. Good luck on sleeping. Heard a line from an old song, "Don't wake her up. Sleep is the only freedom she has."

Unfortunately, the mattress isn't a flippable mattress.

I actually got gummies awhile ago for the sleep and they did help, until I ran out

I need covers. I don't get cold but I need the "security".

Also, I have a floor wind tunnel that I use for steady noise. I've done this for years. There's a ceiling fan on too.

There is a memory foam that already lays on the mattress itself. I can see the mattress sagging.

I think tonight I'm going to sleep in the guest room tonight. I'll just have to take the floor wind tunnel fan with me.

I believe it's time to go mattress shopping for sure.

Oh, this is so true!!

Thank you, Marthe.

I’m a stomach sleeper, had a friend tell me that her chiropractor would kill me for sleeping on my stomach. I could use a new mattress as well…..mine’s hard as a rock, husband liked it, he’s a back sleeper. He’s been gone for two years now, I should think about a new one.

But at some point my body rolls itself on my back.

In my younger days I would sleep on my stomach. It was frightening because I sleep the best on my stomach to the point I can't hear my alarm clock. Of course my chest would be sore and that's takes awhile to go away.

Yes, it sounds like you should do some mattress shopping too, a kennedy.

a fun bed to jump on!

I haven't been sleeping all that well either, Niagara. I don't blame our mattress though. It's about 6 or 7 years old. Seems to be holding up okay.

My problem is seasonal. I always go about a month during the late spring where I wake up early and have great difficulty getting back to sleep. Sometimes I only drift off for a few minutes more.

In the fall and winter, I generally sleep more soundly, it's not so broken.

Maybe consider getting a mattress made of gummies, and then you can nibble on it whenever you need a sleep aid.
