(13,343 posts)when I was a kid. Like Sals Subs, all were independent, not a chain store in existence yet.
Nana would simmer four gallon pots of her secret pasta sauce with handmade meatballs and sausage from the old country recipes, to be used in the family sub shops.
The local Italian sub shops are gone for good now, replaced by chains producing fake meatball with hamburger helper-like fillers and bread.

have 3- 4 employees now 2. One day last week they had 1, the other was on break, he said. So, no doubt they will
be out of meatballs today.
