The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI accepted a job offer yesterday.
I will be getting my 1st raise since 2021, a pretty jaw dropping (to me anyway) 17%.
The new company actually went to the top of my desired range and added 1K.
I start on March 2nd
It's gonna be tough to relearn processes/systems after so long with my last company, but... that last company was shitty.
Honestly, I'm glad to be shut of them.
Yay me.

(13,800 posts)Since that number was a pretty solid raise.
But as the headhunter told me- I am in a niche role with an uncommon skill set.
Looking for someone to train, hoping they can do the job isn't a winning strategy. Not when they had a position they needed filled ASAP
So, they gave me an offer I couldn't refuse

(13,284 posts)My son n law just got new job after Trumps people laid him off a year ago.
He had got a masters in counseling while in AF and worked with the cadets at academy in CO. So he got a license in WA state and got great job at Equine counseling place in the country in Redmond. Place looks so relaxing great place to work.
And they are moving from Texas and excited, he ended up there after military with kids in high school, the youngest graduates in a few months. I am happy to have my daughter closer, I live in Oregon.

(13,800 posts)I was considering retirement next year after turning 64.
But I'd feel like an ass if I signed on with this outfit just to leave less than 2 years later.
So I'll go to 65 and give them a long notice before I leave.

I'm just under new management.
So, my travel booking, time keeping, billing, records, and all the other administrivia will be different. But the reason they hired me is the field work and that is essentially the same

(8,792 posts)The fact that they got you what you asked for and added 1K is wonderful. This makes me suspect that your top-of-the-range was not theirs. You could probably have gotten more. Anyhow, what matters is that you are happy with this new opportunity.

(907 posts)Transitioning from a company you been with for a long time to a whole different company, culture, work setup is one big damn deal. Almost like starting a new relationship. Sounds like the change was overdue, so kudos to you. Bust on thru!
