Do you have a comfort movie and/or T.V. Show?

Mine vary but at the present time:

Movie: Nine to Five - Lilly Tomlin is hilarious!
T.V. Show - Monk and Friends

ANY Trek will do just fine... even Enterprise. (I am joking.)

As to a movie, well, I would rate that by which films do I usually pick when I need to be mindlessly entertained and transported. There are a few that usually end up on the list. Like you, there is some rotation, but right now, I would have to pick 'Big Trouble In Little China'.

watching The West Wing...

amazing the number of subjects covered in that show that appear IRL now.

But I have watched it so much that it no longer really helps. It used to remind me of what a real Presidency would be like... but that is so far out of reach now...

I also watch Silicon Valley... just because I've lived it... of course it is a little bit unrealistic, but I've seen all the exact characters and many of the situations that happen in the show.

As for movies... nothing much comes to mind. Maybe The Magnificent Seven with it's simple and somewhat fatalistic story of seven warriors taking on an army that is terrorizing a village.

As for TV, any animated (except Grave of the Fireflies) and MASH, Mary Tyler Moore, Newhart (both shows), Dick Van Dyke, Carol Burnett, Night Court and Barney Miller. That was a great time for comedy.

Movies:
Tremors - Four giant worms terrorize the very small town of Perfection, Nevada killing a number of people. Although it sounds like a cheap, 50s-style scifi movie it's actually done quite well. It's both a comedy, drama, and horror film. The movie has become a cult classic and spawned a number of sequels. It stars Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Michael Gross, and Reba McEntire.

The Core - Earth's inner core has stopped rotating causing causing disruption to the Earth's magnetic fields which will end life on Earth within a year. To prevent this, a group of six "Terranaughts" use a newly developed vehicle to travel to the center of the Earth to restart the core. This is a scfi movie but you have to ignore the fake science and just enjoy the movie. What I like about it is the interaction of the characters and how each one deals with others as well how they deal with the dangers of what they're doing. The movie stars Hillary Swank, Aaron Eckhart, Stanley Tucci, and Alfre Woodard.

TV:
The Big Bang Theory - I know many of the punch lines by heart.
Eureka - Fun scfi comedy/drama.

And somehow, there’s still a compelling story there! LOL.

It’s my current feel-good movie.
