Those of you who eat cold cereal, what is your favorite?

I love granola but it can often be high in sugar and calories, so it’s a no-go. Lately for me it’s been Rice Krispies. What is your favorite?

It's what we had growing up and it is really healthy. It wasn't cold when my Mother made it but it was by the time I ate it. A little cinnamon and honey and it's pretty good. And it's a good extender for savory stuffings for peppers, tomatoes, and squash.

It's a bit time consuming, though. Not constant attention, but you have to keep an eye on it & stir it throughout. Next time I'm going to add coconut, but I'm not sure if I should toast it with the oats & nuts or if I should toast it separately & then add it later.

When I was a kid, Trix printed a ballot on the back of the box & kids got to vote if the rabbit got the Trix or not, cuz the slogan was "Silly rabbit. Trix are for kids." I voted yes, the rabbit should get Trix. IDR how the vote went, but probably the rabbit lost.

Add your own ingredients: soy milk, regular milk, nut milk, fruit, or whatever sweetener you want (and the amount you want), without the cereal being pre-loaded with it.

Simple, whole grain, lots of fiber. For me, it's that or plain oatmeal, for the same reason.

I hate all the salt and sugar they add to every damn thing in America, including cereal. So it's Shredded Wheat & Bran for me.

Another one I used to eat: Grape Nuts - which is good hot or cold. It contains more additives, but compared to other cereals, it's relatively simple. It does have a chunk of your RDA of sodium in it, though: https://www.consumerreports.org/health/healthy-eating/are-grape-nuts-good-for-you-a1100556283/

1 cup unsalted sunflower seeds
1 cup safflower oil

Is a low sugar granola with dried cranberries and blueberries that I put over non fat no sugar greek yogurt from Trader Joe's. I get the granola from Market of Choice, it's an organic chain in Oregon.

I add fresh strawberries and blueberries and chopped pecans from Costco. I buy my strawberries from a farm just outside town all summer, TJ's in the winter or Co op I belong to in Ashland.

Regular cereal has no nutritional value that I can find, even the so called healthy ones add crap to them, too many ingredients.

I’ve been looking forever for a low fat low sugar granola (without stevia or artificial sweeteners ). I know I can make it myself, and I have before, but it’s time consuming by the time I procure all the ingredients.

Agree about most breakfast cereals being full of junk. Way too much sugar and salt, too.

Ask my hubby he laughs at me. Like the Europeans I go to many stores to find just the right ingredients. Luckily I have a Prius so gas isn't a problem.

I tried many granolas from the bagged so called organic ones, to lots of stores in the bulk section. Which is where I found this low sugar one, in bulk. Market of choice is basically for the rich, I buy little there because prices are steep but granola and some of their local produce the best!

Wish I could help you find one in your area, I would say go on a ingredient taste mission.

And I only eat that maybe once a week, mostly eat eggs with whole wheat sourdough from organic bakery and turkey bacon no preservatives or steel cut oatmeal with fresh blueberries, teaspoon of date syrup and Califia almond milk.

I do intermittent fasting eat only 6-7 hours a day and trying to stay healthy in my older age, turn 70 next year.

But I have treat days, my hubby made me pancakes with buttermilk today, I had fresh fruit, real maple syrup and nuts with it and my turkey bacon. Life is too short not to enjoy healthy but great tasting food!

stevia is a matter of trial and error, for sure. I bought a set of dash, pinch and smidgen measuring spoons. I use a half cup of muesli, a half cup of almond milk and 2 smidgens of stevia and mix them up. It doesn't matter how much dried fruit I use because the sweetness is already set.

I usually add blueberries in season and a small drizzle of honey - it's wonderful and decadent.

Chocolate, no grain granola and muesli. I like to mix. Add hemp hearts and chia seeds.

And a minimal amount of milk, just enough to slightly dampen the Os. I don’t like cereal swimming in milk.

I bought Great Value cereal once and it was different-not bad, just different. Agree about using too much milk. I had a friend whose father used to pour orange juice on his Cheerios.
