1. Playing in the dirt

Rockhounding, actually
Actual digging in the dirt is required, however, and even though I like that part, I like cutting open those rocks even more (an indoor activity).

17. Oooo, when I was tween, teen on our summer vacations...

in New England I'd go rock hunting!
My mom and I loved it! My sis was sort of meh, usually. My dad is think he sort of liked it bc he liked science, and he really loved my mom.

One time (a day trip) we went to Franklin
?NJ and dug or picked up florescent rocks. My dad got me a black light.

Then there was a time and it might of been here in NYC I found a rock studded with tiny garnets on one side. Unfortunately I at some point got bored w the color, and ditched it.

Finally- the best trip while on a week's vacation was Herkimer, NY and Herkimer Diamonds (double terminated clear quartz [points on both ends]]. I think my sis liked that one.

A bit disappointing in that the largest two i have are barely a 1/4 inch, most 1/8, ? 1/16.
Still I'd r[ather have that as a experience, than not.

I started looking up rock hunting in the NYC, close NJ area 2 yrs ago. I should try again m, and maybe prep for next May. We'll see.

Walking the neighborhood and working in my garden. Interact with many neighbors (and their dogs) on my walks and donate many of my tomatoes to people on my block.

14. I like walking

I usually take an hour walk around town a couple times a week when the weather is nice, which is about 80% of the year.

I used to like to ride my bicycle about 20 miles three times a week and 25 miles on Sundays in the summer but since I had vertigo in March, I still have some residual aftereffects. Although very mild, I'm not trusting my balance on the bike just yet. I'm about 98% recovered but I still get a slight movement sensation in my head and an occasional misstep in my walk. I'm hoping to be fully recovered next year so I can resume biking and do the 25- mile Bike the Bay in San Diego where we can ride over the Coronado Bridge (the only time of the year bikes are allowed on the bridge) and around the bay back to the starting point.

18. Love walking, sitting in various nearby neighborhood parks through the decades...

Don't have one near me now. Luckily the alp I'm in is on a superblock and we have an inner backyard full of trees! 🌳 🥰 🌳

There's even a bigger backyard south, and accessible to us. We have more trees, they have more flowers close by their entrance to us.
We do have 2 Japanese Kanzan cherry trees! The pink fancy blossoms. And a white flowering tree I have yet to identify.

So I'm out here from about late April - ?early Oct when weather s decent: no rain, not above about 85°F ish. 90° gets too hot once it's consistent. Maybe the first time or two is ok.

I have taken a bus 2xs a yr to the biggest of my old paks - w a garden!
And 1x yr to The NY (Bronx) Botanical Garden.
My sis lives near another big park. We go there, too.

22. Have to add that in mid July in the backyard I videoed Fireflys!...

About 1 1/2+ mins! The green, and yellow ones, no orange. Heck, just seeing one color would have been thrilling.

Yeah, you can seen fireflies in NYC various places! Even relatively modest patches of grass can have them. But I hadn't seen any in several years .Wasn't sure there'd be any, but it was worth it to go and check at dusk.
And there they were! 😄 🩷

Kinda live outdoors, don’t or can’t do some of the listed above mostly cuz of getting older but still do enough.

I try to walk everyday with my husband.
We have a clicker, so we can see how many steps we do each day.

Recently we went on a beautiful hike to Bear Valley (Point Reyes National Seashore in California).
Usually it can be foggy, but on this day, it was warm and sunny!

44. Strolling through the neighborhood and sitting on the front porch.

The first is good for spotting wildflowers beside the city ditches. The second is good for waving to passersby, carving slices off a summer sausage and eating same, watching the birds go to roost and the stars coming our as the street goes quiet. Bonus when I can spot fireflies. Double bonus when the gardenia and the roses have the yard smelling like Heaven. Sometimes a neighbor comes by for a chat.
Dusk is my favorite time of day! So peaceful. Hubby loved sitting on the porch too! Such sweet times!
