I need to thank all of our DU members

This site has been my home for nearly 18 years. We have been through so much together.

We've laughed, we've cried, and we've shared ideas. We sometimes fight, but that's what families do.

From cat videos to breaking news, shared stories, and personal pains- you guys keep me informed, entertained, and kind.

From the Door Buzzard to The Thread That Never Dies- and those of us rebels who had to be dragged from the DU 2 Lounge kicking and screaming.

With all of my heart, Thank You. I really do love this place.

I'm gonna take my sappy ass to bed now. When I wake up tomorrow I know you'll be here. And that brings me some peace in this otherwise scary world.

I love having a place to come to where I know that people generally think like I do. We here at DU may not agree completely on every topic, but we agree one hundred percent on the main issues of compassion, kindness, equality, justice and honor.

I am glad to be a part of this place.

Along with all the benefits of membership you describe, I have surprisingly found a welcoming home for my photography in that forum. Plus astounding art posted daily and once a month with themed contests. So many gifted picture takers have offer glimpses of their worlds through DU — their images take one's breath away.

I'm a relatively new-comer here, nevertheless I hear you and love this place as well.

Thanks again,

George

Happy to know the everyday Truths. Happy to know the members want Truths.
DU members see this reality as it is..no bullshit carnival hiding crap behind the curtains.

Just reminded myself that I’ve been coming here since 2003 — can’t believe it’s been 22 years! I also can’t imagine not having this place to be among friends ... like an online Cheers (bar).

I've been here since 2004, yet I don't post that much. Doubt anyone would notice if I went missing. But I know I would go crazy if DU went missing. This is home.

This place has kept me sane. It's been a place to come and laugh, (thank goodness for the lounge,) when the bad news gets to be too much.

Here's an example of why DU is so special:

I think I was one of the first members to get covid, way back in March of 2020. I didn't have a car, long story, and local DU members that I had never crossed paths with were offering to buy food and deliver it to me, and whatever else I needed. I was so sick, and the offer, but more so the kindness, meant so much to me, and always will.

This really is the best place on the internets!

Not just to our discourse... not just to our debating to make things better instead of arguing because we were told to... but to all aspects of those lives who desire to be involved with the site beyond a post or two.

It has surely helped me hold onto my sanity and worthless life ever since I joined.

Thanks may not be enough... but they are sincerely given.

I thought I might have to take a break from politics and DU. Then the management created Cooking and Baking. It lifted my spirits and helped me get through the 4 years.

I guess y’all will get me through the current monstrosity, too.

my now 18-year-old son happily rode along in his stroller while I went door to door for Obama! I have taken some breaks through the years, but I always keep the membership going and often just read and rec without commenting all that much. I often don't feel like I have any great wisdom to share, but it sure feels good to have folks to interact with who are sane (I live in Texas, you can imagine the crazy I see on a daily basis).

We all need a little sappy stuff now & then.

LOL, the door buzzard thread. It deserves it's own page & listing on the Forums page.
