(109,838 posts)-and most of us saw the excesses of NYC in the 90s that led to the rise of someone as superficial and grotesque as Donald Trump. We learned our lessons then (especially the NYC populace, who still hate him).

(26,701 posts)I was raised in the 40's,50's & 60's.
And yes, there are days I feel old. The 1st time that hit me was when the last of my grandparents, parents and all my Aunts and Uncles had passed. That made my generation of brothers, sister and cousins the oldest generation of our family.

(441 posts)My late brother was much smarter than me. He was born in 1949 and I was born in 1950. In the early 90s, I told he we both lived in six decades and he had a hard time believing it. He thought it was six for hi and five for me. I explained how it worked and he still had difficult believing it. He finally realized I was right.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
