Just found it in a storage drawer; forgot I even had it. It's yellow and appears to have been something you strapped on your arm...

(72,820 posts)...and a fellow musician, bought one.
I listened to his & went to buy one after work that day!
It was so much better than anything out there for portable music.
Later, I bought this leather-ish case for it that I could slip onto my belt so I could practice basketball moves while listening to music.
I couldn't do that with the Discman. Skipped too much. So, I kept the Walkman even after I went CD.

(23,721 posts)It was called the Sony Soundabout. It was blue metal with two faders for balancing the volume stereophonically. There was an orange button that, when pressed, cut the volume in half and activated a built-in microphone so people could talk to you without removing your headphones. When I would walk around wearing it people would look at me oddly! Within six months they were ubiquitous.

Last gift I got from my ex husband before we split up and he asked for me it back to him which I laughed in his face and refused to return it! Its sat in one of my dresser drawers for years! I just might sell it now !

(66,231 posts)I'm finding all kinds of interesting stuff in drawers I haven't opened in YEARS! I have lots of time to do this, fortunately, being retired and needing things to do that interest me.
