Humane Society YIKES! and trying to coordinate a foster.
Our local SPCA is having a population explosion, and no, it's not what you think. Not this time. It seems that someone up our way died and neighbors discovered a dog hoarding situation on their property.

Yup, 52 of them, small to medium sized, tied up outside. Many of them were suffering from demodex mange, so the most severe of them were taken in to be treated, and the other smaller ones to be fostered. But we don't have room for all of them, as we're currently up to the eyeballs with dogs, so a barn on the property was repurposed for the rest, and employees and volunteers are going out and feeding them twice a day while our foster coordinator attempts to find foster homes for as many as possible. By all reports, they are very loving and not at all mistrustful of humans, which is a real plus to the situation. As you can imagine it's a monumental task!
Meanwhile, I've been trying to get in touch with the foster coordinator because I've fallen in love with a small gray kitten in the nursery. He's a little bit shy, but he does come out from behind his stuffed dinosaur to approach me and ask for pets, which is a plus. I've been playing phone tag with her for 4 days and I hope today is the day. Everything is ready for him, including a name---Sumu, which is Finnish for fog. I had such fun with my last foster that I'm ready for another.
