Spring fling in my front yard

This is from a few days ago. Rains have since removed lots of petals, so I’m glad I snapped this photo while puttering around in the yard. This is my first spring here, and I had no idea what colors these azaleas would bloom.

Lots of pine needles make the acidic conditions that azaleas (and rhododendrons, which I also have) prefer.

From what I'm reading, some varieties bloom three or four times a year too.
