(50,581 posts)NO, NO, NO! Don't do that!
A conundrum with a lesson?
How hard would it be to simply show them some decency by offering a simple condolence? It's not a political thing to show you aren't shallow like the magat mind is. Could serve to keep from relationships, however detached, going sour over a small thing.

(65,691 posts)... Are you looking for some glimmer of acknowledgement from them, that their MAGAness has cost them a condolence for their loss of Mr Ninga? Is there a hierarchy to the response based on who passed? For example: would you have sent a card for loss of an infant but only a silent nod on the loss of a parent, and nothing at all for a cat you've known by name for years?
An inquiring mind has a passing interest.

(8,846 posts)Shelving my passionate dislike for their obvious values in exchange for condolences for their pet is a tough one for me. But I will.

(303 posts)and send them a card with condolences and proof of my donation to a local animal shelter in memory of Mr. Ninja. The animal shelter will put the donation to good use, Mr. Ninja gets kitty heaven brownie points for inspiring kindness towards stray kitties, and your neighbors can chew on the fact that empathy and kindness are fundamental Dem traits. They won't change their attitudes, but you might feel less torn about your response.
