chipmunks, birds and orb-spinning spiders. Grateful animals are a great change from ungrateful, entitled humans.

from the AF. I took 60 days terminal leave and stayed at home, in Florida, resting and decompressing. After about 60 days, I took a job with the VA in California. I didn't like it so I permanently retired at age 54 in 2004 and I move to the San Diego area where I owned a condo. I became active in my local Democratic Club, work the polls during elections, joined two bowling leagues, became the president of my HOA for 17 years, and started checking books out of the library. Now, I mainly bowl and read books.

in Rustic Canyon--near the edge of the Palisades fire in California recently --who used to feed the raccoons in their back yard. He was a very well known photographer in the 50's- '60's. We moved from there in 1988. I think there may still be some shots of the raccoons on line. I'll look.
On edit: no raccoons, but deer, opossum, squirrel, ducks in some back yard shots by their pool.

That's a good one.

I don't think I'll ever be able to retire. It will be involuntary. People will just stop hiring me.

And, I plan to celebrate once that happens. (If it is possible of course.)
