Opinion - Trump helps Democratic candidates by waging a civil war against GOP critics
President Trump is foolishly waging a civil war against fellow Republicans who dare oppose him on anything, increasing the chances Democrats will capture control of the House and Senate in November’s midterm elections.
Trump seethes with hatred and erupts in volcanic fury to denounce, demonize, disparage and threaten anyone who refuses to support his increasingly irrational and harmful proposals and actions. He expects total loyalty from congressional Republicans, even when his policies hurt their constituents.
The president considers any Republicans who criticize him to be traitors and RINOs or Republicans in name only. Fueled by uncontrollable rage, he is going RINO hunting by backing primary challengers to Republicans who fail to always support him.
With the emotional control of a four-year-old having a meltdown, Trump weaponizes the Truth Social site he owns against Republicans he deems disloyal, reducing their chances of winning the votes of his most ardent supporters.
