Workers at the Coolidge Corner Theatre are preparing for a possible strike after rejecting managements last and final contract offer last Friday.
The nearly two-year labor dispute escalated further on Wednesday when the theaters nonprofit foundation filed a federal complaint accusing the union of bad-faith bargaining.
The Coolidge Corner Theatre Union, which represents the nonprofit theaters floor staff and projectionists, announced Monday that 67% of members voted against the latest contract proposal and that workers would begin preparing to announce a strike date.
The Foundation can still avoid a strike, union spokesperson Ginny Hamlin said in a press release Monday announcing the vote. Our members want a fair contract, not a labor dispute. We hope management will choose to resolve the issues workers have been raising throughout this process.
