Governor Newsom calls for immediate tariff refund checks following Supreme Court ruling against Trump

What you need to know: The Supreme Court struck down Trump’s illegal tariffs. Governor Newsom is now calling on Trump to refund Americans their money immediately — with interest.

SAN FRANCISCO – Governor Gavin Newsom today called on the Trump Administration to immediately issue refund checks — with interest — to American families and businesses after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs were illegal.

“Time to pay the piper, Donald. These tariffs were nothing more than an illegal cash grab that drove up prices and hurt working families, so you could wreck longstanding alliances and extort them. Every dollar unlawfully taken must be refunded immediately — with interest. Cough up!”

The Court’s 6-3 decision confirmed what Governor Newsom argued from the beginning in California’s lawsuit: President Trump lacked the authority to impose sweeping tariffs under emergency powers. The illegal tariffs, a tax, collected more than $130 billion from importers, costs that were passed on to consumers through higher prices on everyday goods. A recent Yale report found that the tariffs led to the average family losing $1,751 dollars last year...................

that most often, the only stuff we hear, comes from a Dem Governor in California, or a select few other Dems in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate....???????????
AND why we literally have hundreds of other Dems in the U.S. House and Senate that we never hear from???????????
Colorado's two Dem U.S. Senators are prime examples..........

Everyone was affected differently depending on what they purchased.

"A recent Yale report found that the tariffs led to the average family losing $1,751 dollars last year..................."

Is that a family of 2 or a family of 6? What about single people?

Will the states refund the excess sales taxes that were charged?

It makes me so angry that US manufacturers raised their prices across the board, whether they were subject to the tariffs or not. Because they COULD, and Chump made it possible. Since last year we've been paying 15 or 20% higher prices on just about everything because we've had NO CHOICE.

Chump did this to us, to all Americans, whether we voted for him or not.

Price Increases by EVERY Corporation, in EVERY Industry have gone crazy..........it is un-fathomable. Just wait until it suddenly "awakens" everyone, especially the RepubliCONs voters..........
Of course, they exclusively watch Fox News, and are told it is the fault of: Hillary, Biden, Obama, they have even mentioned a few times, that it was a direct result of Carter........

AND it is not just TRUMP, it is the entire Republican CABAL that is guiding things from the 2025 Doctrine, and Heritage crowd.
Even if Trump goes out, the RepubliCON CABALwill still remain, and will certainly put in someone like Stephen Miller, who actually could be much worse........

By my calculation that's a $750 refund due every adult in the U.S. Where's my check?

off of your money.

Even IF you could get Congress to pass a bill with a refund mechanism, Trump would refuse to sign it.

Trump will do his best, and probably succeed, to run out the clock on any refund during his administration.

Is speculating that this was planned. Or at least a good chance they knew it wouldn't hold. So now THEY get to be ones in power when the prices start coming down.....just in time for the midterms. FOX and friends will spin it as Trump's tariffs worked!!! I know.....dumb....but his cult followers are not rocket scientists.

The only things that might go back down would be if something actually did lose a lot of sales. That might be lowered enough to get sales back up.

But for damn near everything, they now know what people will pay and will keep charging it. Just like oil companies.
