15 FBI officials have been harassed since their IDs were stolen during Minnesota ICE protest, feds say

Source: The Independent

Wednesday 04 February 2026 19:38 EST

As many as 15 FBI officials have faced threats and intimidation after two government vehicles were vandalized and documents were stolen during a protest against federal immigration officials in Minneapolis.

On January 14, amid protests against agents who shot a Venezuelan immigrant during an arrest attempt, a group of individuals ransacked a pair of government vehicles, stealing weapons and FBI documents. The vandals took FBI IDs, access badges, and documents listing employee phone numbers, email accounts, home addresses, and drivers licenses, the federal government wrote in a court filing last week.

The information was soon posted online, and between 10 and 15 FBI personnel then faced threats, including “multiple harassing and threatening phone calls and emails and suspicious drive-bys of their residences,” the government wrote. Shortly after the leak, someone allegedly emailed a Minnesota law enforcement official a message claiming, "We'll see how tough you are,” after they carried out a threat to “firebomb” a redacted address.

"I find it incredibly embarrassing that he's FBI, but so much is available about him and his family,” someone allegedly messaged the official’s child on Facebook. The government accuses an Illinois man, Jose Alberto Ramirez, 28, of making multiple threats to the official.

Now they want the FBI to be secret police too?

You know who else was threatened and harassed? Ruby Freeman. Should poll workers be masked and secret?

"So much is available about him and his family". Welcome to the new dictatorship! Now you're one of us since Musk/DOGE/Trump administration has access to all of our data, and our current government uses it to hunt down anyone they don't like.

Some of the independent media people like Status Coup and Mercado Media were live streaming the clash between protesters and ICE goons that night.

Two government cars were left behind when agents left the area. The cars were broken into and vandalized by a few people.
The people then showed documents and other things left in the cars to the live streamers. The live streamers would not touch the stuff but did video as the protesters flipped through the many pages.

I think the contact info for the FBI agents was in the documents which is how they were DOXed. So not directly an FBI screw up.

If/when the vandals are caught they are in pretty big trouble.

Or maybe they aren't giving the real details of the theft.

If somebody were to hack one computer (or phone) owned by a fed, they'd have access to the co-workers' info. Am I right? It doesn't mean they'd get their access cards, but once they discover one password, they can start doxxing many of the federal employees who work in the same group. I'm thinking the FBI investigators must share a lot of info with each other, texting and emailing, etc.

“ The incident happened after an ICE agent shot a man in the leg in north Minneapolis on Wednesday night. WCCO Photojournalist Tom Aviles was a few blocks away from the scene two hours after the shooting happened, and caught some of what happened.

Dozens of alleged protesters smashed through two parked, unmarked FBI vehicles. They then forcibly ripped out a large lock box from the trunk and tried desperately to open it.

The crowd then appeared to tear through a second vehicle and successfully break into the locked container, which was already emptied.

"It feels sort of surreal. It doesn't feel this should be the world we have to live in," one protester said.”

they may be locking their personal stuff up in the trunks of the GOVs they use and would retrieve that later when they are done. The only thing they may carry "on their person" when they are active are their credentials and a badge (plus any firearms they are issued and warrants they plan to present when necessary).

One of the biggest issues among feds and GOVs is the "stolen laptop" from the car trunk. That is why those government laptops are all encrypted (or are supposed to be).

Doesn't sound like they were locked up in a trunk, and a group of individuals breaking into a trunk and stealing all this stuff would have been noticed by someone, unless the vehicle was parked in a dark alley at midnight and not a soul was around.

This is all a very suspicious incident and probably a big fat lie.

A lot of agencies were and still are using the Ford Explorer PI trim -

And some are equipped with all kinds of storage options, e.g., -

It sounds like this happened "during a protest" and it's possible they didn't lock their stuff up, so with all the noise and commotion going on, and if there are a lot of cars in the area (including unmarked GOVs), then it's definitely conceivable.

Remember if they are going "plain clothes and are in targeted neighborhoods where there are concentrations of immigrants, do you think there would be a pile of potential "targets" standing outside "watching" and willing to report something?

I mean seriously.

Yes, I understand, they may be completely innocent of any wrongdoing, so, why should they be subjected to harassment?

I could say the same thing about Renee Good, Alex Pretti, and hundreds of people roughed up by ICE.

Sorry about that but maybe they should not have been in a situation where their IDs were compromised. In fact, if their IDs were stuck in a vehicle somewhere, the question is why didn't they have their ID with them? Could it be they were beating up innocent people and didn't want to get caught?

They were not carrying their ID or badges? Were they wearing masks? Were they acting as provocateurs?

Why were they hiding their identity? Is it because they had no legal reason to be there?

Cops around here at least wear uniforms, badges, name tags, and they show their faces.

Nothing remarkable in it (never arrested, never associated with any kind of "questionable" groups, just pretty front and center during a 1966 sit-in that pretty much shut down the University of Wisconsin for a few days .We didn't do damage or anything and were very peaceful, we were just large, loud, and mostly IN THE WAY of daily business.

The Feds are lying, as usual. Note in the article, this isn't confirmed by anyone else but the Feds. They've included the court filings and this Regime frequently lies in court. They filed this on 1/30/26 to turn public opinion because they want the money pending in Congress for DHS/ICE, and they want DHS to continue using masks. Yeah, the car may have been ransacked, but taking guns, harassing FBI, attempting to firebomb an address? I don't believe a word this regime says. Let's see how this shakes out.

"One individual who allegedly stole federal government property out of an FBI vehicle in Minneapolis last night has been arrested," FBI Director Kash Patel announced Thursday evening. "The suspect is a member of the Latin Kings gang with a known violent criminal history."

Patel did not release the identity of the person apprehended, but added "there will be more arrests."

The incident happened after an ICE agent shot a man in the leg in north Minneapolis on Wednesday night.
