Trump says he's rebuilding Dulles Airport while his administration is fixing the 'people movers'

Source: NBC News

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said Tuesday that his administration will embark on a reconstruction of Dulles International Airport in northern Virginia.

“We’re also going to rebuild Dulles Airport because it’s not a good airport,” Trump said during a meeting of his Cabinet members at the White House. “It should be a great airport, and it’s not a good airport at all. It’s a terrible airport.”

Dulles is one of the three Washington-area airports and its quality and utility is a hotly-debated topic among Washingtonians.

Trump, a former real estate mogul, said the Dulles building is good but that it was “incorrectly designed.” He nonetheless praised Eero Saarinen, the Finnish-American architect who designed the main terminal at Dulles.

Where your MAGNIFICENT ballroom will be?

As Samuel L.Jackson narrates in a humorous children's bedtime story for new parents, "GO THE FUCK TO SLEEP!"

... security was a thing. I thought it was great. It had a very expansive, open lounge.area that was comfortable and convenient. Once security ramped up, they boarded up the whole area.

What really sucks is National Airport - so called Air Force 3 for catering to the legislative branch.

I don’t remember JFK saying, “ Ask not what your country can do for you, but we need to retile and seal the Holland tunnel..it’s a total disaster!”.

When my father was suffering dementia, he loved to talk law with my sister. Both are attorneys. It was what he was most comfortable and familiar with, so it was sort of his default cognitive mode. He didn't necessarily recognize the person he was talking to was his daughter, but his legal arguments were sound.

I think the Old Man is a developer at heart and that is his default cognitive setting. He is comfortable looking at a property and seeing what he wants to do to it to make it "better" - whether it is an airport, an executive mansion, or a beleaguered city under siege. It's all real estate to him.

I kinda wish we could lean into it and just give him some non-essential properties to "manage" and have him ignore the rest of the world.

At his stage of dementia it's probably like:
bad airport = money for me and mine...

like ballroom = money for me and mine.

Like airports are going to be solvent in the next few years.

Such expensive travel is not sustainable in a society where those who can afford to do it make up less than ten percent of the population.

The rich make up around five percent. So, I don't see air travel being something that is going to be expanding anytime soon.

Unless you figure in the exodus of rich once this nation really starts to collapse. That might make things grow a bit for a moment, but the long term...
